1: Install rbenv

brew install rbenv


brew install ruby-build


2. Edit bash_profile

nano .bash_profile

Then add this line at the end: eval “$(rbenv init -)”


3. Actually installing Ruby

See which version of ruby you have:

which ruby

Then if you decided to install the latest version, find out what the latest version of Ruby first here: https://www.ruby-lang.org/en/

After decided which version that you want to install, run this command: rbenv install [ruby version number that you want to install] .

ruby version


rbenv rehash


rbenv global [your ruby version]
